# Upgrading Your Plan

Moving to a paid plan — or from monthly to yearly — doesn't reset your account. Talib simply extends your existing expiry date, so you never lose time you've already paid for.

## Upgrade paths

| From | To | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Interview Sprint (Free) | Active Hunter (Monthly) | Your portfolio stays live. A 30-day period is added starting from today. |
| Interview Sprint (Free) | Career Anchor (Yearly) | Your portfolio stays live. A 365-day period is added starting from today. |
| Active Hunter (Monthly) | Career Anchor (Yearly) | Your remaining monthly time is preserved — 365 days are added on top of your current expiry date. |
| Career Anchor (Yearly) | Active Hunter (Monthly) | Not required — yearly is already the better rate ($1.67/mo vs. $4/mo). Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period. |

## How the expiry date is calculated

Every plan has an expiry date. When you upgrade, Talib doesn't restart the clock — it extends your **current expiry date** by the new plan's duration.

**The formula:**

```
new_expiry_date = current_expiry_date + plan_duration
```

Where `plan_duration` is:
- **30 days** for the Active Hunter (Monthly) plan
- **365 days** for the Career Anchor (Yearly) plan

## Example: Upgrading to Monthly

Say your current expiry date is **12-10-2027** and you upgrade to the Active Hunter (Monthly) plan.

```
current_expiry_date:  12-10-2027
+ plan_duration:       30 days
= new_expiry_date:     12-11-2027
```

Your portfolio now stays live until **12-11-2027** — an extra 30 days added on top of your existing date, not from today.

## Example: Upgrading to Yearly

Say your current expiry date is **12-10-2027** and you upgrade to the Career Anchor (Yearly) plan instead.

```
current_expiry_date:  12-10-2027
+ plan_duration:       365 days
= new_expiry_date:     12-10-2028
```

Your portfolio now stays live until **12-10-2028** — a full extra year added on top of your existing date.

## Why we do it this way

- **You never lose paid time.** Upgrading mid-cycle doesn't discard the days you've already paid for — they carry forward.
- **No prorated math to worry about.** You always know exactly what you're getting: your current expiry date, plus the new plan's duration.
- **Stacking is allowed.** If you're on the Active Hunter (Monthly) plan and upgrade to Career Anchor (Yearly), the 365 days stack on top of your current expiry date — same formula, same logic, every time.
